The North American F-86 Sabre entered service in 1949 and became the front line fighter for the USAF during the Korean War.

The Sabre was the most widely produced jet fighter in the West, with 9,860 units made in the US, Canada, and Australia.

Many air forces round the world used the Sabre, and it proved successful until the next generation of fighters came on the scene.The F-86F was armed with 6 x 12.7mm machine guns, and the F-86H could also carry bombs and rocket pods.

The ROC (Taiwan) Air Force was first air force in the world to use the Sidewinder missile in combat on in 1958.
