AH-64A Greek Army

The AH-64 Apache entered service with the US Army in 1983. It is a purpose-built Attack Helicopter with high resistance to damage from ground fire. The 'B' and 'C' versions were never manufactured, but the 'D' type has improved systems, including a radar on top of the rotor head, allowing attacks to be made from cover with just the radar exposed. The British version of the AH-64D is made under licence by Westland. It has the same basic specification, but uses more powerful Rolls-Royce engines. The Apache is armed with a 30mm cannon, which is linked to the gunner's helmet, meaning that he only has to look at a target, and the gun will swivel to that direction. It also carries a mixture of Hellfire missiles and Hydra rockets on the stub wings. Extra fuel tanks can be used instead for long-range missions.
